I’m a writer + music journalist who is fascinated by questions of gender, culture and power. I’m also a songwriter under the name Keeper.

Currently, I work at NPR Music as a News Assistant. At NPR Music, I sometimes write , and mainly help bring web + radio stories to life. I’ve gotten to work on such cool projects as editing essays about our new canon of women’s music and helping unknown bands get noticed through our Tiny Desk Contest. My voice has also appeared on podcasts like Pop Culture Happy Hour and All Songs Considered.

As a freelancer, my writing has appeared on sites like The Establishment and Bandcamp Daily and in the Washington City Paper, She Shreds magazine and Bitch magazine.

For fun, I run a weekly link roundup newsletter called Link Plz and make collaborative zines.

You can catch me on Twitter, chatting about friends, my favorite rock bands and cool things happening in the world. You can email me at marissalorusso[at]gmail.com.

Thanks for stopping by.
